For children staying for lunch we ask that you provide a cold packed lunch.  Unfortunately we are unable to heat any food and unable to store food in the fridge.  We recommend you put an ice pack in to keep food cool if need be.  We also recommend you pack 3 – 4 small items, for example a sandwich, crisps, yogurt and/or fruit.  We ask that you do NOT provide chocolate bars and fizzy drinks as we encourage healthy eating.

New for 2018 - 2019, a dedicated preschool and toddler morning once a week where the children take part in activities specifically for their age range.  For example the pre-schoolers will have a more focused circle time and structure preparing them for school, while the toddlers are in a small group with activities planned specifically for them

About Christ Church Playgroup

The Playgroup was formed in January 1979 by members of Christ Church and is regarded by the church as part of its outreach to the community.

Through free play and some adult provided we work hard to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is primarily driven by the individual child’s interests, which is used to plan and encourage learning and future development.

The Playgroup is managed by a committee of parent and church representatives, although the Play Leader is in charge of its day-to-day running.

It  is a member of Gloucestershire PATA (the Playgroup and Toddler Association)

and is registered with the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED), who regard the committee as the ‘registered person’ responsible for ensuring that the EYFS is delivered.

We welcome all children from the age of two years old.

New children usually start in September, January, after Easter and, sometimes, at the beginning of term (February/March) Though we do accept children into playgroup within these times if spaces are available.

Fees are payable for children under 3 unless entitled to receive 2 year old funding. From the term after a child’s 3rd birthday, full funding is available through the ‘Free for 3 & 4’ scheme. Children can attend 1 - 5 sessions, depending on requirements. We aim to fit the needs of all families where possible. We also accept childcare vouchers as payment for fee’s.

At Christ Church Playgroup we recognising the importance of learning through play, children are given every opportunity to play in a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

We accept children from the age of 2 years old for our afternoon session.

This is Monday – Friday 12:30pm-3pm term time only

We focus on helping the children learn social skills, communication and enhancing their physical abilities. This session focuses on these prime areas of learning, which then progress into the specific areas including Mathematics, literacy, knowledge of the world and expressive arts and design.

The children are offered a wide variety of activities and equipment to explore and enjoy, this allows us to observe and determine their level of development and next steps to encourage them and help them achieve well at playgroup.

We are aware that children can have allergies or medical or cultural reasons why they are unable to have certain foods. We ensure that these needs are met and catered for, if a child has a dairy intolerance we will ensure an alternative is given instead, this also applies to gluten, wheat, nut or seed allergies too.

If you have any questions then please speak to a member of staff regarding this.

All fee’s that are payable are invoice half termly, payment can be made by cash, cheque or online transfer.

The invoice outlines the sessions attended and also the duration of the term and amount per session.

If your child attends another setting and you are receiving funding, you can split the funding between the two settings or select which setting you wish to receive the funding. This may create a ‘short-fall’ outstanding amount which you would be invoiced for as stated above.
